The material is a fabric made by combining Ghicha silk,a firm type of silk, with linen, then softly reprocessed in Japan to bring out the complex, handwoven-like surface texture.
Ghicha silk refers to uneven, coarse yarn and its woven textiles, produced by hand from cocoons of Tussar silk that cannot be mechanically reeled in the conventional way.
These cocoons were once discarded, but were regenerated into fibers through the knowledge and techniques of indigenous communities.
The term “Ghicha” originates from a Hindi word meaning “pulled” or “dragged,” directly describing the process of pulling fibers straight from the cocoon.
The fibers are used with minimal twisting and aligned in parallel, causing light to scatter irregularly and create a unique luster, with pronounced slub texture, an uneven appearance, and a subdued, natural sheen.
This fabric is treated domestically with a special bleaching process, followed by gas singeing to remove fuzz, and finished with a water-repellent resin treatment.
With extremely high breathability and moisture absorption, it stays cool in summer and warm in winter, making it suitable for year-round wear.
The long adjuster allows for a wide range of size adjustment.
