About kaleidoscope, It was in the 1990s when the norm of pairing a jacket with a collared shirt was broken. Around that time, the German brand Jil Sander began proposing a style where jackets were worn with crew-neck knits or cut sew tops. The developer of the kaleidoscope Collared Cut sew was involved in the European brand business, including Jil Sander, back then. He personally favored this jacket + cut sew style. However, he had always been bothered by how easily jackets got dirty and wore out after repeated dry cleaning. After all, the collar of a shirt is originally meant to protect the jacket. But how could a collar be added to a cut sew top? After much trial and error, a Japanese designer whom he commissioned finally created the collar design for the kaleidoscope Collared cut sew. Even after the design was finalized, production posed another challenge. Most factories were adamant that cut sew should made by cotton and insisted that nylon or cellulose-based materials were unsuitable. So the first sample had to be made with cotton. It looked fine at first glance, but by the evening, it became limp from the body's moisture. Determined to find something better than cotton, they adopted the current material. In the end, even the factory agreed it was the right choice after seeing the final result. Although the factory name cannot be disclosed, it is one of Japan's top facilities, known for handling production for leading designer brands and boasting some of the country's finest jersey manufacturing techniques.
