We are pleased to present a styling from FDMTL(Fundamental), available at FASCINATE_THE R (Osaka Shinsaibashi), highlighting a denim jacket as the main piece. This article provides detailed insights into the newly arrived items—please enjoy until the end!
A Denim Jacket Inspired by Levi’s
This piece takes inspiration from the iconic Levi’s Type III denim jacket (commonly known as the “trucker jacket”).
Rather than a straightforward reproduction, FDMTL infused its own essence into the familiar V-shaped paneling and flap chest pockets, reinterpreting the design with intricate pattern-making.
The body is finished with a lived-in look, giving it a vintage-inspired expression.
The silhouette strikes a perfect balance—not too loose, not too slim—similar to a box shape, with a slightly longer length than the original model for easier styling.
It also features side adjusters for waist adjustment, which, when cinched, sharpen the shoulder line for a more defined look.
Unique chest pockets connect dual flaps with additional panels underneath, strongly reflecting FDMTL’s signature aesthetic.
The denim fabric has been treated by hand, producing authentic fading and texture.
Washed-in fading and puckered seams elevate the style with a rugged attitude.
As an inner layer, the look features a T-shirt from the SAKAMOTO DAYS × THE SUGAR PUNCH collaboration, boldly printed with Osaragi, a member of the “ORDER” task force from the Japanese Assassin Association.
With its strong subcultural vibe, this piece is ideal for those who want to express individuality and visually share their cultural affinities.
Denim Pants with Sashiko Design
For bottoms, we selected FDMTL’s classic silhouette denim pants.
In addition to damage and repair processing, the design incorporates sashiko stitching with six different colored threads.
Behind this design lies the designer’s imagined story of “denim worn by a worker in an invented trade,” while also drawing on the natural beauty of fading in old American workwear.
Paying homage to history, the piece even references the unique stitching that combined yellow and orange threads, seen only in denim from the late 1960s to early 1970s.
The silhouette is relaxed, with a straight fit throughout the body.
Generous room is given through the hips and thighs, then gently tapered toward the hem, creating a clean straight line free of bulk.
Comfortable and easy to wear, these pants transcend generations and trends.
The standout feature is the sashiko detail, crafted with six different colored threads.
Originating in the Edo period, sashiko was traditionally used to reinforce and insulate garments.
Here, FDMTL transforms sashiko from simple reinforcement into an essential design element, showcasing the brand’s elevated sense of craft.
On the feet, the look is completed with “HANK” sneakers from Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO.
This model uses the brand’s original sole, based on a handmade clay prototype crafted by designer Mihara himself, resulting in a uniquely recognizable design.
