The sashiko technique, which can be called FDMTL’s identity, is concentrated in the octagonal patchwork design on the left chest. The sashiko carefully done in a grid pattern is intricately adjusted in fabric and stitch colors to match the body color, reflecting the brand’s meticulous attention to detail. The left sleeve features a subtle embroidery of the brand’s initial, adding a minimal yet impactful accent.
Designer Manabu Tsuyoshi draws inspiration from vintage fabrics and farm clothes he collects, analyzing the thickness and intervals of traditional stitches to reconstruct them into modern wear. Originally developed under harsh conditions in the Tohoku region to reinforce clothing and enhance warmth, sashiko was fundamentally a functional repair technique. The brand elevates this practical beauty into design, crafting a unique expression that is quintessentially FDMTL.

Produced in Okayama Prefecture, the birthplace of the brand’s manufacturing, the sashiko’s raised texture formed by blending traditional techniques and modern technology develops unique rubbing marks with wear, providing a three-dimensional aging effect that flat prints cannot achieve.
