Ghicha silk refers to uneven coarse yarns and textiles manually produced from Tussar silk cocoons that cannot be reeled into standard filament.
These cocoons were once discarded, but were revived as fibers through indigenous knowledge.
“Ghicha” derives from a Hindi word meaning “pulled” or “dragged,” directly reflecting the method of drawing fibers from the cocoon by hand.
Used with minimal twist so fibers remain parallel, it reflects light irregularly for a unique luster, characterized by strong slub, uneven texture, and a subdued natural sheen.
After special domestic bleaching, the nap is gas-singed and a water-repellent resin finish is applied.
Highly breathable and moisture-absorbent―cool in summer and warm in winter―so it works year-round.
The long adjuster allows a wide range of sizing.
