JAN-JAN VAN ESSCHE

JAN-JANVANESSCHE(ヤンヤンヴァンエシュ)は2003年にアントワープ王立芸術アカデミーを卒業。卒業時、ドリスヴァンノッテン賞などを授与される。2010年ベルギーのアントワープで「yukkuri」(ゆっくり)をテーマにしたファーストコレクションを発表。このタイトルは、現代のワードローブに対する彼のデザイナーとしての本質的概念を示すアプローチとなった。2013年には、新プロジェクト立ち上げ、特定の工芸品やインスピレーションを受けた作品に基づいてデザインし作品を制作。彼が創り出す洋服は、シリーズごとに民族文化の異なる伝統的なパターンを研究し、ブランド特有のデザインとして落とし込まれている。文化的な意味合いをミニマルに表現しつつも縫製箇所をできる限り取り除く事で着用者の快適さを追求。衣服が身体の形を作る古典的な西洋のアプローチとは異なり、着用者の身体に馴染む事で衣服の形を作り出す。「境界も制限も存在しない服」一着一着が個人の解釈の余地を残し、開放感や自由を生み出す現代的でありながら「気品あるジェンダーレス」をテーマに美しさの表現を目指している。
