Electric-fan apparel―often used on construction sites and for welding work―has become increasingly common in everyday city settings as well.
The idea of wearing an additional layer in hot weather felt interesting, and the team began development while imagining how this function could be applied across different situations.
When considering what would be optimal as a meanswhile product, they envisioned scenarios where long sleeves are necessary even in hot seasons, leading them to create rainwear designed to protect the body from the elements.
Because the fan’s intake function doesn’t pair well with rain, the market has relatively few products that successfully combine rainwear and fan-cooling functionality. This piece is designed to resolve that conflict through design, aiming to merge fashion elements with practical performance.
The fan cover can be gathered up by pulling the built-in nylon tape, allowing the fan performance to be maximized.
With the fan cover lowered, the fan is concealed, so the jacket can also be worn as a regular jacket by removing the fan.
Versatile gimmicks include options such as wearing it as a no-collar style or as a vest-like configuration.
Made from a waterproof fabric using 20d nylon, finished extremely thin despite being a 3-layer construction.
Unlike many 3-layer materials, it avoids stiffness and remains supple, following body movement smoothly.
The lightweight nature of 20d also stands out, and it can be rolled up compactly and carried in a bag.
