Uma Wang(ユマ・ワン)は上海の中国繊維大学（現在の東華大学）でファッションデザイン学んだ後に中国のいくつかのブランドで働き、テキスタイルとパターンのスキルを磨いたのちに渡英。ロンドンのセントマーティンズでファッションデザインの学位を取得したのち、2009年に自身のレーベルをUMA WANG(ユマワン)を立ち上げました。それ以来、生地に対する独自の解釈、非常に美しく精巧な仕立ての技術、そして気品と時代を超えた美的感覚の絶妙なバランスによって生み出される彼女のコレクションはすぐに大きな成功を収め、イタリアのヴォーグからは「新進気鋭の才能」と評されるなど、設立からわずか10年たらずで中国を代表するトップデザイナーの一人として、世界中から高い評価を得るまでに成長しました。2012年にはCouncilofFashionDesignersofAmericaの最初のChinaExchangeにUMA WANG(ユマワン)を選びました。彼女の創作のインスピレーションとなっているのは、素材やイメージを大切な布や形に変えていく研究と、世界中を旅する中で触れる異文化や魅力的なストーリー、そして自分のうちに秘めた感情や生まれ育った東洋の哲学にあります。現在、彼女のコレクションは上海のフラッグシップブティックを筆頭に世界25カ国以上の100を超えるショップで展開されており、パリ、ミラノ、ロンドン、ニューヨークなどの世界のトップバイヤーたちを魅了し続けています。
