About the 26SS Collection
The 2026 Spring/Summer (SS26) Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME collection is a season that holds a sharp “cry” within its stillness.
The themes “A Declaration of Consideration and Freedom” and “Iconia Avant-Garde” point not toward a competition for novelty, but toward a gaze fixed on the crises facing the world today.
At the show held in Paris’s Marais district, Yohji Yamamoto’s own voice resonated through the space, and warnings about the environment and human indifference were inscribed onto the surface of the garments, connecting the message not merely as “words,” but as the very “act of wearing.”
From the confrontation with “Western aesthetics” and “symmetry” that past avant-garde movements once faced, SS26 shifts its focus toward “environmental collapse” and “political indifference.”
This very shift in the center of confrontation defines the strength of this season.
At the core of this collection lies the concept of “Duality.”
The poetic and personal dreamscape symbolized by “Un rêve avec Yohji Yamamoto (A dream with Yohji Yamamoto).”
Alongside it are stark phrases confronting reality, such as “If the oceans disappear, humanity will end” and “No War.”
By placing the act of dreaming and the act of facing reality side by side, the garments emerge not as “devices of escape,” but as “outlines that protect dignity and freedom.”
The Y’s for men 2026 Spring/Summer theme is “Spirit of Summer.” Here, summer does not signify a sense of openness, but rather a stoic perspective, maintaining coolness amid hot and humid urban life while preserving aesthetics and dignity.
The texture of materials, the space created between body and garment, and a quiet defiance expressed through pared-down design.
This paradoxical coexistence, lightness paired with a weight grounded in history and philosophy, becomes the key to this season.
