Today's styling features doublet's work jacket as the main piece, paired with a sweatshirt and bottoms from the same brand, along with tapered pants from IRENISA.
The outerwear, doublet's “Work Jacket,” features duck fabric that's been garment-dyed and washed, adorned with realistic vegetable embroidery. This season, the “Chain Embroidery Jacquard” series from the 25AW season has been elevated to a “Fruits and Vegetables” jacquard embroidery. The rugged silhouette reminiscent of vintage workwear contrasts vividly with the vibrant vegetables seemingly spilling out, while fringe detailing adorns the hem. This reflects the season's “farming” theme, paying homage to those who till the soil, sow seeds, and cultivate vegetables. Like packing pockets with life's abundance, the design infuses everyday wear with a subtle sense of gratitude—a quiet “Itadakimasu” (Let's eat). The sizing is intentionally oversized. This design choice is meant to allow the wearer to “play freely” with the garment, independent of current trends favoring “tight tops and loose bottoms.” It prioritizes the individual's preference for a relaxed fit, offering the freedom to choose their size.
Paired underneath is doublet's “Sweatshirt.” Part of the brand's signature print series, this season's design boldly features a graphic on the chest inspired by the cover of a fictional business magazine, aligning with the “Itadakimasu” theme. The stars of this print are anthropomorphized vegetables like broccoli, carrots, and daikon radish. Within a design mimicking the font of American business magazines, they are celebrated like heroes leading the economic world. doublet's “play seriously” ethos permeates every detail. Similar to the 25AW crow motif's message of “I'm unpopular but I try my best,” this collection features detailed messages written from each vegetable's perspective, such as “I'm Broccoli, the King of Vegetables!” Ingredients, too, are “workers” nurtured by the land and people, supporting our daily lives. By recognizing that every success is supported by these unnamed forces, it prompts reflection on gratitude and true abundance. The silhouette features a relaxed dolman-style underarm and a slightly shorter length. Sizing up for added volume won't make the length overly long, ensuring balanced wear.
For bottoms, we selected IRENISA's “Tapered Pants”. Crafted in the Bishu region, the fabric uses a special spun yarn of fine merino wool and nylon, woven in a twill weave. It features a dry touch with good body, yet retains the supple drape characteristic of wool. The silhouette tapers beautifully from two waist darts to the hem, finished with a double-stitched hem. Elastic is placed at the waist sides, meticulously patterned to ensure a flattering fit whether worn at the natural waist or lower on the hips.
The fabric color is also carefully considered, utilizing the color difference between warp and weft threads for a deep hue, and showcasing the unique expression of black achievable with yarn-dyed fabric. This piece truly highlights the quality of the material.
Pairing a top with humor and a strong message with high-quality fabric.
