The Production Background and High Design Quality of On's Cloudtilt
Cloudtilt: Born from a Collaboration with Luxury Fashion Brand LOEWE
The Cloudtilt has a significantly different production background from other On models, possessing a unique history of being "reverse-imported from the fashion industry."
Its defining characteristic is that it takes the design philosophy born from a collaboration with the luxury fashion brand LOEWE and integrates it into On's inline (standard) collection.
Here, we will explain its production background and the history of the collaboration with LOEWE in chronological order.
[March 2022: The Beginning of the Collaboration]
On and LOEWE (Creative Director: Jonathan Anderson) announce their first collaboration.
Initially, it was a reinterpretation of existing trail shoes like the "Cloudventure" and "Cloudrock" using LOEWE's color palette.
[October 2023: The Birth of Cloudtilt]
In the third installment of the collaboration, the "Cloudtilt" debuted as an original collaborative model.
It was the first time On's latest technology, "CloudTec Phase®," was equipped in a non-performance running (lifestyle) shoe.
This marked the moment when Spanish luxury aesthetics fused with Swiss engineering.
[February 2024: Cloudtilt Released in On's Inline Collection]
Following the explosive success of the LOEWE version, On released the Cloudtilt worldwide as an "inline model" (standard line).
The logos and coloring were simplified to seamlessly fit into everyday lifestyles, while the sole structure and comfort specs directly inherited those of the LOEWE version.
Beyond 2024, joint development through this collaboration continues, including the release of "Cloudtilt 2.0."
Behind the Development: Why LOEWE?
This collaboration was not merely a lending of names; it involved deep technical cooperation.
LOEWE's Jonathan Anderson strongly resonated with On's "functional beauty based on ergonomics."
During the development of the Cloudtilt, computer analysis (Finite Element Analysis) was utilized to pursue the ultimate sole softness optimized for the daily movement of "walking."
The Cloudtilt stands as a rare success story where "a luxury brand's aesthetic pushed a sports brand's technology to its absolute limits."
Cloudtilt's Functionality and Design: A Meticulous Architecture for "Walking"
The Cloudtilt features an extremely minimalist and sophisticated design aimed at town use. It is a truly ideal pair where flawless functionality and design are intrinsically linked.
From here, we will explore the appeal of the Cloudtilt that masterfully combines functionality and design.
The Greatest Feature: CloudTec Phase® Technology
While conventional CloudTec featured a structure where the "pods" compressed independently, Phase was designed through computer analysis so that the pods compress sequentially like dominoes from the moment the foot lands to the toe-off.
This ensures an incredibly smooth weight transfer during walking, finalizing a design perfectly suited for city strolls.
Furthermore, by intentionally removing the stiff plate (Speedboard®) found in many On products, the softness and lightness of the sole are maximized, which significantly distinguishes the Cloudtilt from other models.
Speed Laces and Sock Construction for Easy On/Off
The sock construction, integrating the upper and the tongue, ensures smooth wearability and minimizes pressure even during long hours of use.
Adopting speed laces that require no tying allows you to slip them on and off easily like a slip-on, which is another major appeal of the Cloudtilt.
Comfort Driven by Sustainability
The uniquely structured mesh upper utilizes 100% recycled polyester engineered mesh for both the outer and inner lining.
In addition, it is extremely lightweight at around 200g to 260g per shoe (depending on size), making it perfect for traveling or long hours of standing.
Furthermore, by adopting a dope-dyeing technique, water usage is reduced by 90% compared to conventional methods, achieving an environmentally conscious and sustainable manufacturing process.

The meticulous three-dimensional effect and texture, reminiscent of X-ray art, immediately catch the eye.
Finished with a seamless design and cut-out logos to project a highly technical impression.
Also, the speed laces and sock construction found in the standard Cloudtilt are not used in this model. Instead, traditional tie-up laces are adopted to allow for versatile styling adjustments.

Staff Review on Fit and Comfort
Similar to the tendency of other On models, I felt the sizing was slightly small.
Due to the flexible fit provided by the mesh upper and stretchable laces, you should be able to wear them comfortably without any issues regarding width or instep height.
There is a slight tightness in the toe box, so we recommend going half a size up from your usual size.
If you are still unsure about sizing, please also refer to our On Size Guide (with staff reviews), which provides actual measurement comparisons of standard models.
Maintenance and Tips for Longevity
Because the Cloudtilt combines lightweight mesh, synthetic fibers, and a rubber sole, proper care can help maintain its functionality and appearance for a long time.
- Surface Cleaning: After use, gently wipe off dust and dirt with a dry cloth or soft brush. If it gets wet or muddy, rinse gently with lukewarm water.
- Avoid Washing Machines: To prevent damage to the stitching and sole, it is best to avoid washing machines. Hand washing followed by air drying in a well-ventilated area is highly recommended.
- Cleaning the Sole Grooves (Cloud Pods): Small stones and sand easily get trapped in the large grooves, so please check regularly and remove them with a brush. This is crucial for maintaining cushioning performance.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight During Storage: High temperature, humidity, and direct sunlight can accelerate the deterioration of adhesives and materials. We recommend storing them in a breathable shoe rack or shoe box.
