DESCRIPTION
JAN JAN VAN ESSCHE 2023-24 Autumn Winter Collection.

A pullover knit made using the wool of the yak, a bovine animal inhabiting harsh terrains at altitudes exceeding 3000 meters.

This high-quality material is comparable to cashmere in luxury, and it's said to excel cashmere in heat retention.

While JAN-JAN VAN ESSCHE's knitwear is primarily hand-knit, this piece is machine-knitted, allowing for a relatively affordable price point despite the use of yak wool.

The decision to use undyed material highlights the natural beauty of yak wool's color while also considering environmental pollution caused by dyeing.

About JAN JAN VAN ESSCHE
Graduated the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 2003.Upon graduation, he received Dries Van Noten as well as other awards. In 2010 launched his first collection in Antwerp, Belgium. The first collection theme is "yukkuri" (slowly). This title has become an approach to showing his fundamental concept as a designer for the modern wardrobe. In 2013, the previous collection was so well received that in addition to the project the designers were also given an autonomous series of clothes designed and developed based on specific crafts and inspiration, corresponding to the annual wardrobe that decides to take the time to hone their ideas and experience a slow rhythm and pace of hand.Freedom of creation is protected and ideas can flourish. His works are delicate and multilayered, and blend in with modern urban life and personal clothing, performing a modest role in connection and acceptance slowly and carefully. They see no boundaries, no limitations, no limitations, no exclusions. The traditional silhouette is amplified, leaving room for interpretation and creating a sense of openness.
