This unique textile is designed based on high-resolution scans of roughly 100-year-old vintage fabric personally collected by designer Manabu Tsuyoshi. The color palette reflects the indigo denim aging process after three years of continual wear and washing, resulting in a nuanced tone that balances depth and vibrancy. A simple patch pocket on the left chest serves as a subtle accent that ties the design together.

For FDMTL, boro is not just vintage processing but an embodiment of the brand’s philosophy. Originating from the Edo period requirement to maximize the use of precious cloth, the culture of boro is rooted in the concept of “wearing in and completing through repeated repair,” which deeply resonates with the brand’s ideal of products that grow dearer with wear.

Utilizing Okayama’s world-renowned production technology, the complex boro pattern is intricately rendered with jacquard weave. Although it appears like vintage textile, it is actually lightweight with a soft, sweatshirt-like feel and excellent stretch, offering stress-free comfort. Even the worn fabric’s characteristic fraying and sashiko mending are rendered with dimensionality, creating a depth and expression that seem like a direct imprint of authentic antique cloth.
