【Design】
The eye-catching octagonal patchwork on the left chest is enhanced by sashiko applied in a lattice pattern, showcasing FDMTL’s craftsmanship. Colors of the patchwork change to coordinate with the body color, reflecting the designer's attention to detail. The left sleeve features a subtle embroidery of the brand’s initial “F”.
The foundation of the brand’s design lies in vintage sashiko fabrics and rural workwear collected by designer Manabu Tsuyoshi. He analyzed stitch spacing and thread thickness from these authentic samples, reconstructing the technique into modern wear. The sashiko, originally emerging around the 16th century in the Tohoku region to reinforce and insulate clothing, is integrated into the modern production process using special sewing machines in Okayama Prefecture, transforming it into the brand’s unique design element.

【Silhouette and Sizing】
The silhouette offers a relaxed fit with slightly ample width while maintaining a balanced standard length. This sizing is highly versatile, flattering as both a standalone piece and an inner layer, pairing well with various bottoms.

【Material Texture and Comfort】
The body uses durable cotton jersey with substantial thickness. It resists deformation through wear and washing, while remaining comfortable to the touch.
The sashiko’s embossed texture develops unique aging through wear. Friction causes the dyed stitching to fade first, creating an “atari” effect, a three-dimensional expression that cannot be replicated by flat printing. This aging process results in a rich depth and character.
