【Design】
This short-sleeve open-collar shirt prominently displays FDMTL’s signature motif, “boro,” through precise full-surface transfer printing. This pattern is constructed from high-resolution scans of vintage fabric about 100 years old, collected by designer Manabu Tsuyoshi. It recreates the historical background of boro, born from the Edo period practice of endlessly repairing and reinforcing precious cloth to use every scrap, capturing the unique overlapping fabric patterns and indigo fading that emerged through this process in contemporary wear. The distinctive coloring assumes denim fading after about three years of wear and washing, combining depth and vividness.
