Kyoto Gion’s long-established footwear artisan NAITO has reinterpreted the knowledge cultivated through years of zori sandal making and the traditional Japanese idea of “functional beauty” for modern life, creating “ohakimono” footwear with new value.
The new series features synthetic suede used for the thong strap, offering a refined texture reminiscent of leather and a calm, sophisticated appearance.
Made possible by NAITO’s traditional craftsmanship, this design incorporates aspects of zori’s original functionality, such as support for preventing bunions, while adopting a beach-sandal-like form that fits naturally into contemporary lifestyles.

Recommended way to wear
OJOJO NAITO recommends wearing them according to Japanese culture, with the heel extending about 2cm beyond the back. Allowing the heel to show slightly encourages the toes to apply natural pressure while walking, helping straighten the posture. When actually wearing them, a size that lets the heel show slightly tends to be easier and more comfortable to walk in. For fashion styling, you may also wear them without the heel showing, depending on your preference.
