DESCRIPTION
JAN JAN VAN ESSCHE 2023-24 Autumn Winter Collection.
A knit blanket worn as the 6th LOOK in the 23-24AW collection, which debuted at Italy's PITTI UOMO with the brand's first runway show.
Made from the wool of the yak, a bovine animal inhabiting harsh terrains at altitudes exceeding 3000 meters, yak wool is a high-end material comparable to cashmere, while it's said to surpass cashmere in heat retention.
While hand-knitted wear is the brand's mainstay, this blanket is machine-knitted, enabling the use of 100% yak wool while maintaining a relatively reasonable price.
PRODUCTION AREA
Made in Belgium
About JAN JAN VAN ESSCHE
Graduated the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 2003.Upon graduation, he received Dries Van Noten as well as other awards. In 2010 launched his first collection in Antwerp, Belgium. The first collection theme is "yukkuri" (slowly). This title has become an approach to showing his fundamental concept as a designer for the modern wardrobe. In 2013, the previous collection was so well received that in addition to the project the designers were also given an autonomous series of clothes designed and developed based on specific crafts and inspiration, corresponding to the annual wardrobe that decides to take the time to hone their ideas and experience a slow rhythm and pace of hand.Freedom of creation is protected and ideas can flourish. His works are delicate and multilayered, and blend in with modern urban life and personal clothing, performing a modest role in connection and acceptance slowly and carefully. They see no boundaries, no limitations, no limitations, no exclusions. The traditional silhouette is amplified, leaving room for interpretation and creating a sense of openness.
