Color variety and basic knowledge
GUIDI provides an expanding variety of colors to offer something
new every season.
Multi-step dyeing process is used to produce all unique
products.
This is an introduction to GUIDI’s color variety and the
dyeing techniques.
Two main types of colors staple colors and seasonal colors
GUIDI produces two types of colors:
“staple colors” for all seasons and “seasonal colors”
only available for one season.
What are the staple colors?About Standard Colors
There are 7 staple colors.
GUIDI updates the colors, other than the black, every
season.
The colors of white, gray, and red will be slightly
different
in hue from season to season, and in a certain sense,
these are the colors unique to the
season and never reproduced again.
Please note that conventional terms such as “black” and
“red” are not formally used and the formal codes are as shown
below.
BLKT
This refers to black, the all-time staple not to mention. Many customers chose this color for their first pair of GUIDI shoes. Deep dark black, a color you can fully enjoy the substantial solid quality of GUIDI leather.
CO00T
White with a hint of gray, a flattering colored leather different from black. The hue is not too clean and the nuance of color slightly varies depending on the leather type.
1006T
A color close to burgundy or wine red. Brilliant hue with velvety depth. The look varies depending on the season, maybe more brilliant or maybe deeper.
CV23T
Burgundy red, much darker than 1006T. Close to the color of red kidney beans. Dyeing produces unique shading and creates impressive atmosphere.
CO49T
A cool grayish color with a hint of blue. It looks difficult to match with outfits, but is actually very versatile color. This color makes a nice accent to your coordination when used in shoes or a bag.
CV31T
Army green color, reminiscent of military style. Attractive and distinctive hue with a hint of brown. A more muted earth tone, rather than adding an impact to your look.
CV60T
Dark brown color with a mixture of red and purple. A muted hue similar to CV31T.
About the seasonal colorsAbout the seasonal colors
A set of colors only available for one season.
These colors are produced for a specific season and will
not be available in the next season.
Three spring-and-summer-like colors are produced for the
21SS.
CO77T
Pale light blue, reminiscent of fresh blue sky. Unusual for GUIDI? A beautiful and straight forward color, looks rather new. This color can be good for women too.
CO78T
Deep blue color, reminiscent of the Mediterranean. In contrast to CO77T, the coolness of blue is toned down to create artisan hue unique to GUIDI. A color you want to have in the spring/summer outfits.
CO79T
Flesh-like light brown color. Close to previous CV58T, but paler and light hue. You can enjoy changes in color over time.
In fact there are other colors.
While no pictures are available
GUIDI actually offers so-called “shop colors”
that you can order.
Though an order has to meet conditions
each shop can order a special color
that is not available as staple or seasonal colors.

Types and characteristics of dyeingTypes and characteristics of dyeing
GUIDI uses its very famous tumbler dyeing process along
with other types of unique dyeing methods using hand
dyeing and new techniques.
These techniques are explained below.
Tumbler dyeing
Once products are put together to a finished shoe form, they are placed in a barrel-like dyeing machine called drum and dyed entirely while being tumbled, a technique called “product dyeing.” As the shoes are being dyed while bumping with each other, it gives unique color shading and texture to the leather. Characteristically, the products are entirely dyed, including stitches and inner surfaces as well as zippers and other metal parts, which get rusted by water and dye to create a unified atmosphere of the products.
Hand dyeing
Hand dyeing literally refers to manual dyeing technique. Finished products are dyed manually. Therefore, the dye penetrates to a shallower depth than other technique and does not reach the backing. It requires labor, time and skill for dyeing products one by one. GUIDI rarely uses this technique in the current lines but you may order it with negotiation.
Special dyeing methods
GUIDIs is producing new pieces of products using other
unique and innovative ideas.
CHERRY and PL1_RU disclosed in the past season were
dyed with lamination.
The leather was coated with a special film and made
into shoes.
Depending on the color, either dyed leather or undyed
leather was used to adjust the color shade.
PL1_RU was produced by removing the film afterward to
give its used texture.
DRIPPING in 20/21AW was produced by an Italian artist
Federico Ceruso using dripping technique with acrylic paints
one by one on each shoe.
Another example is PL1WZ_DG for 21SS, which is
produced by manual spray painting of undyed finished
products one by one to give color gradation.
